Gionee is set to disrupt the market by launching not just one or two but eight bezel-less smartphones at an event on November 26. The event is taking place in Shenzhen, China. Gionee has shared an invite on Weibo.
The invite shows eight smartphones with varying designs, but one thing in common - 'full screen' bezel-less displays. The Gionee invite also confirms that the event will be live streamed in China on Shenzhen Satellite TV.
While the invite doesn't reveal the new models, a report by Android Headlines claim that the bezel-less smartphones will be the Gionee F6, Gionee M2018, Gionee S11 and S11 Plus, and the Gionee M7 Plus. Among the entire range of eight new smartphones, the Gionee M7 Plus and M2018 are likely to be the top-end ones - with a leather back panel and up to 6GB of RAM as well as 64GB of onboard storage.
The Gionee S11, on the other hand, is reported to have a 6-inch full-HD+ display and a MediaTek MT6763 chipset with an octa-core processor. It has a 5-megapixel front camera sensor and a 16-megapixel rear camera sensor.
All the new Gionee smartphones are likely to come with 18:9 aspect ratio that would brighten up the minimal bezels. The hardware would also have compatibility with the apps that are already supporting bezel-less displays on the offerings designed Oppo, Samsung and Xiaomi among others. Further, the handsets are expected to run Android Nougat with Gionee's proprietary Amigo OS skin on top.
Details about the price and availability of the new bezel-less Gionee smartphones would emerge in the coming days. The Chinese company is also likely to bring some of the handsets to the Indian market.
In September, Gionee stepped into the growing segment of bezel-less offerings with the M7 and M7 Power. Both the models sport FullView AMOLED display panels and run Android Nougat-based Amigo OS 5.0 skin.
